Compenso is latin for "to weigh together or balance". That's what I'm trying to do with my brain and ideas on the outside world.

So, I created this blog as a means to harness my thoughts, primarily those thoughts as they relate to how I see things. This is a 100% selfish endeavor - just for me. If someone else stumbles upon this, that's cool. Keep in mind it's not meant for you and you may find this boring. Quite simply, I really wanted to find a way to save random articles and thoughts that I see poignant to the current economic, political, educational, and environmental crises we are in. History is not a linear track, but there are actions that cause reactions which perpetuate into present. I want to be able to look back on this 5 to 10 years from now and reflect on how I felt, what I thought was important, and what the long term reactions or implications of these actions became. Also, see how right I was - and have a time stamp on it.

I could just create a journal - which I have. But that's for more personal junk. Plus, I type way faster than I write. Further, I hope this will help me with my own personal writing. After graduating several years ago from college, I've seen my writing skills on steady decline. I'm much more apt to write a quick paragraph, reflect, make changes, and try to improve. This is way better, in my opinion, than what I've been doing the past 10 or so years (have a thought, follow that thought for 2 to 3 weeks until something else sticks in my brain, then never think about that thought/or state ever again).

How did we get here? Where are we heading?
